Curriculum
Emphasizing the pzazz of multi-media, multi-faceted, multi-cultural, multiplicity! Come create in a diversity of aspects of your own true self. Each week we will dive into a specific thematic medium, though dabble in the diversity of them all. We will investigate......creating from the ground up, finding inner play, tasting the sweetness of imagination while exploring varied mediums, collaboration experiences and remembering the spontaneity of our spirits, in a comfortable and inspirational environment.
All of our sessions are multi-media based. Touching upon all of the arts within each one week period, though the theme of the week will be the strongest focus of each specific week!
Week One
"Dancers Delight"
In this week we will focus on creative movement, ethnic dance, physical play, improvisation and warm ups. While learning basic dance techniques and terms as well as, exploring where our movement inspiration comes from. Music will be explored as a way to inspire our dance and create a container for our dance inspiration. Visual art will be woven in to create visual affects, props and costumes for the world of our dance delighted!
Week Two
"Visual Arts Magnitude"
In this visual arts week we will explore mediums such as print and paper making, textiles, painting, drawing, sculpture, instrument making and found object d'arte making. As well, we will play in the worlds of music, song and physical movement to allow for holistic creativity to remain alive and birth inspiration and imaginative play!
Week Three
"Theatrical Romp"
With this theatrically focused week we will find ourselves romping through experiences with masks, physical improvisation, character play and movement games. Music and Visual Arts will be woven through as a means for supporting our theatrical explorations with learning about body rhythm, and costume creation.
Week Four
"CircusSeed Rides Again"
During this last week of our season we will explore our kinesthetic selves while we embody the expressive arts through physical play and practice. Enjoying experiences in acrobatics, clowning, juggling, shadow puppets, costume play and visual arts.
End of the Week Sharing
At the end of each session we invite family and friends to come and whiteness and enjoy a taste of what our experiences have been with a short performance sharing at 3:00 pm on the Fri of each session.
About the Teachers
Meryl Juniper of "TumbleWeed Expressions" & "CreekMonkey Studios" is a visual & performing artist, community arts activist/advocate & the prime instigator of collective multi-media dance theater projects. Her 28 years of experience in arts education allows Meryl to delicately encourage the full spectrum of human expression to come forth, supporting the virtues & wisdoms that dwell within the expressive arts experience. She brings a core of experience from a smattering of training for the past 32 years, in the somatic arts, extensive background in ethnic, modern & classical dance, contact improvisation, voice, Motion Theater, improvisation & multi-media visual arts. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Francisco Art Institute & teaches & performs locally as she promotes the safety of diving deep into the soul of creativity.
